Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge

Disney World, Florida- It’s 3:20 a.m. on Saturday January 12, 2008. The alarm goes off. We are arising out of our slumber at the Pop Century Resort ready to embark on our latest adventure: the completion of the Goofy Challenge. To earn the coveted Goofy medal (because after all, it is all about the hardware), one must complete a half marathon on Saturday and a full marathon on Sunday. And does Disney know how to put on a race . . .

Meeting Andrew Yoder

I was at Columbia Tri this past weekend. Andrew Yoder
who is 18 years old and is from PA was there. I don't know if
you know who he is. He is Phenomenal. He went Pro this year. As
a 16 and 17 year old he was winning most of the local races.
Well while waiting for the Awards ceremony I see him standing
among the past two Ironman winners looking star struck. I point
Andrew out to my 11 and 8 year old sons who think the Tri Pros
are Gods . . .

Starstruck

My first Marathon made for a very
memorable experience. It was the Philly Marathon. My goal was
to finish, with a smile on my face. (and not be last, of
course) I decided to run with a pace group (the 5 hour pace
group). I didn't care about speed, just wanted to finish. The
pace girl's name was "Star" which was short for Starshine . . .
