Requirements

     Membership is open to any individual who shares in the common purpose of High Road Cycles Multisport club. Membership shall be granter without discrimination upon basis of race, creed, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, and physical or mental handicap.

     Camaraderie and Support- We have numerous members of varying ability level.  No matter who you are, HighRoads members will seek to support you in your endeavors.

     Organized Training- HRC holds groups training for swimmers, bikers, and runners of all ability levels.

     Team Discounts- HighRoads Cycles gives a discount at their store to all HRC members.

     Socialize and have fun- We aren't just about racing, we like to have fun too . . . while helping each other achieve success!

Tier 1 Athletes

What is a Tier I athlete?

A tier I athlete (T1A) is a member of the group that has been recognized as having successful performances in multisport that benefits or promotes the club, the community, and the sport.  Being designatied T1A is meant to encourage and support club members in achieving increasing levels of athletic success.

How do you become a T1A?

Every year, the HRC Board members determine what criteria a T1A athlete must have as well as what benefits and responsibilities they will receive.  There will be a a Committee that consists of one Board Member and two HRC members to review all applications and make recommendations to the board before the final vote.

What qualifications are there?

•   USAT All–American designation for the previous year in Triathlon, Duathlon, or X-terra.

   USAT Honorable Mention All-American designation for the previous year in Triathlon, Duathlon, or X-terra.

   Three top 10 overall gender finishes in USAT sanctioned races in the prior year.

        Top 10 overall finishes must be in the top 20% of gender finishers, otherwise top five overall gender finish is required.

•   Qualified for Ironman World Championship during the prior year.

        Qualification is defined as either ‘direct’, or through the ‘roll-down’ process.

   Injury Exemption:

        Athletes who have been members of T1A, but were unable to compete in the previous year because of injury may be admitted to the T1A program after review and approval of the applicable circumstances by the Committee.

What are the responsibilities of T1A members?

T1A members should do at least one of the following:

         Mentorship of HR club members.

         Volunteering time at races, fund rising, etc.

         Serving as an active member of a club committee.

         Conducting how-to/improvement clinics for club members.

         Serving as a Board member.

As a T1A, you must wear the High Road Cycles uniform to all races, during competition, and at award presentations. The T1A athlete is encouraged to wear team gear at all club training and team functions where appropriate. The exception to this rule would be USAT Worlds, where athletes are required to wear the Team USA uniform.

Multisport Club

1.      Up to 50% entrance fee reimbursement (not including late fees) at Mid Atlantic USAT races for podium finishes. (overall and/or age group).

2.      1 free tri uniform (two pieces).

How do I apply?

   Members who meet the criteria listed above are invited to apply for T1A status.  You may do so by clicking here and filling out the application form and submitting it to the Tier 1 Committee member here. Club members are encouraged to recruit new members who meet the T1A criteria and invite them to apply for this program. 

   Application for full-season T1A status must be submitted within two weeks of the publishing of the USAT All-American and Honorable Mention rankings. Club members accepted in this initial group will be eligible for a full season of event fee reimbursement, including those that had taken place prior to acceptance onto the T1A team.

   Club members submitting applications after the initial deadline will be considered for T1A status if team slots and economic resources are still available. Benefits for this group will start at the time of approval and last for the remainder of that year.
