Ironman 70.3 World Championships were held in Clearwater Beach Florida on November 8, 2008. High Road Cycles Multisport members who participated were
Mark Rochon, Heather Leiggi, as pro, and Nancy Smith. The weather was beautiful and temps were in the high 70’s Water temperature was cool. Florida’s course was very flat, except for a causeway bridge, which made Tohickon Hill Rd look like Mt Everest..Heather Leiggi who turned pro in 2008, had a great race finishing in 4:41,
Mark Rochon finished 5th in his age group with a time of 4:10. Nancy Smith finished 3rd in her age group with a time of 4:50. Teranzo Bozzone, and Joanna Zeiger were the 1st place male and female pro with times of 3:40 and 4:02. Oscar Galindez had the fastest bike split of the day ,and maybe of the history of 70.3, of 1:59. That is what a flat course and perfect weather conditions will do. |
