Rhode Island 70.3 Triathlon |
Rhode Island 70.3 was held
on July 13, in Providence Rhode Island. High Road Cycles Members
that participated were Nancy Smith, Amy O’Neill, Maritza Brint, Mark
Rochon. The logistics of this triathlon were frightening when we read
about it, after we signed up, but the worries were not ours, that was for
the race directors. What we had to worry about was getting up at
2:30 AM, get on a shuttle bus that left at 3:30 to go to the swim
start/bike transition area., which was 1 hour south of Providence. We had
to rack our bikes and leave our “swim to bike” bags the day before, and
leave our “bike to run” bags at the transition area in Providence, two
separate places. This was to be a “clean “ transition race, which meant
no towels or gear on the ground. Everything had to be in your transition
bags, much like an Ironman. When we exited the swim we took our wetsuits
and put them in a wetsuit bag that was transported back to the race
finish. A lot to think about but like I said not for us to worry about.
